Re: NASA championships
 (United States)

Its two full days of towing to get there, Googlemaps says 25hrs from NW Houston, and it took about that much time towing between 0 and 10mph over though I did have one unscheduled stop to fix a flat.  Thankfully the Tundra is overkill for an open trailer and my car, let me keep the speed up safely and plenty of power for the 6000 and 7000 foot elevation 7% grade climbs.  There might be more friendly routes for those of you with bigger trailers than me.

Stopped in Hays KS on I-70 going there.  On the way back we did a few hours on Sunday after the races and stayed in Green River WY, then Witchita KS Mon night, then home Tuesday a bit before dinner time.

I am planning on a return.  Anyone thinking about the nice GP garages should do it.  They're plenty big enough for two cars if anyone wants to split one with me or team up themselves.  Its the same stuff you see the ALMS, Grand Am, Pro Motorcycle teams, etc in on TV.

If you like TWS I think you'll really love Miller.  Its deceptively faster and more challenging than it looks in video... racing was really good too.  Most of the tracks we race on teach you tricks that can apply there as well, as a region we could have a pretty strong showing.

If a group wants to go (ha!) I think I can fit 3 in my enclosed trailer, or 4 on my open trailer. Enclosed is nice because I already have a ton of spares inside, and we can pack more. Cost would be $.50-.60/mile round trip with 3 cars, and I'd be a damned able body crew member for the week? of the event at no or minimal extra cost (gearbox changes, because of how awful gear lube smells and the fact I always get bathed in it, cost extra! D: ).

Chris - I bet you could fill the 3 or 4 car trailer setups pretty easily between this group and the rest of NASA-TX.  I know I'd be interested as it'd save me some valuable vacation days from work....

This group is real good at getting excited about away races but never working out logistics or following through. :P

But if I can get 2 definite on board I don't mind fishing for more. And if we get enough people interested I can rent another truck and find somebody to drive up there.

I've got a 20 x 30 canopy, 2 4wheelers and a vespa that would come along for the event, and for anybody on a tight budget there's plenty of room in the trailer for air mattresses. If I go thats where I'll be... snuggling with a keg.

If anybody wants more details feel free to email me or call, chris@taylorrotorsports.com 512-797-4752.

Re: NASA championships

with all the money you guys are saving by skipping regional events I'm sure you've got enough to go now.... ;-) If you can run towards the front locally in Texas you can run towards the front at Nationals, especially with the defending champ sitting out this year.

There are some people getting transports together but the tow out there isn't that bad either

There are still plenty of inexpensive hotel options - pretty sure the Oquirrh that I stayed at last year has rooms still, and there are other inexpensive ones as well...

Hell I'll even pick you up at the airport if needed

Why sit at home in September when you could be out west kicking ass and taking names??

Re: NASA championships

btw -  just about everyone that's run this year has enough events that they qualify - just need 5 races in 2010.

Like I said - few excuses left :-p
