What a great weekend!!! My proudest moment was watching the Ladies put on one hell of a show Saturday afternoon! Way to go Ladies!!!
Hope everyone and thier cars are going to be ok. Lance has a dr's appt today at noon so we will see what they say about his ribs. Thanks to all of you for keeping an eye on him through out the weekend. Bill and Bill- I hope you are both doing ok and will get the cars fixed in the off season. On a personal note- KC took the new race car to get a cage this morning! We're on the way to building a new one!
I hope everyone has a great winter break- see everyone in February!!!

First, ribs are just bruised. This is for those who have not heard the story of my GREATEST WEEKEND EVER. Medea had to work late so we do not leave my house until 8:15 Friday night. Around 10:15 I hear a loud bang from under the hood of my truck. I listen and look at the gauges, do not hear or see anything wrong so we keep going. At 10:30 Warning light comes on truck is over heating and no voltage. The water pump went out and the blet came off. Call Donato and he calls K.C., who calls me. K.C. finds an all night parts house and drives 2.5 HOURS to bring me the new water pump. We get back on the road around 3:30, set cruise control on 72. Then the red and blue lights come on. Got away with a warning. Make it to the track at 7:30 Sat. morning. Then in the race get wrecked on the first corner. Travis let Medea drive his car for thier event. Can ya'll tell I'm tired of writing, because i'm leaving out alot of stuff. Great job by the ladies
So how about a race report? Somebody?
fantastic race weather..
real bummer for Lance and Bill S. I'm glad Lance is OK. I hope both cars are repairable and we see you in January!
My weekend started great. Pole for Saturday morning race.. it starts good, in lead then come around and see the Lance and Bill S. with heavy damage.. Oil was left on track and at re-start I see Tony going outside me in never ending lefty and then I can't see him, I'm looking everywhere, even turn my head back as much as I can and still can't see him.. find out he found oil and went off.. next lap, I find oil in never ending lefty and spin.. during spin something happened to car and it was never same.. so finished 5th.. 2nd race on Saturday was doing great but after 2nd or 3rd lap I smelled gas and pulled to a corner station.. found out bowls were filling with gas.. discovered the needles in the carburator needed to be changed.. Fortunately Buddy discovered problem in time for Medea (who was using my car since Lance's was out) to do the wives challenge.. It was funny when we all went to grid with them and then Clifton and Adrian tell us to get out of the car.. I think the girls were all in shock..
Sunday I qualify 2nd behind Matt S. but he got penalized for passing under yellow during Q. so on the pole again.. this time it was a 40 min race.. First lap and Donato gets by me, then he slows down because the corner worker was out of box with a black flag.. well Donato thought it was a black flag for all of us and pulls in to pit.. fortunately we won't follow Donato off a cliff and none of us followed him in as the flag was for a Legands driver...I was leading the entire race.. Mark was catching me and by the last few laps was right on me.. Last lap and I loose 4th gear.!! so Mark passes me and I limp it home for 2nd place. All in all a great finish to the season.. Congrats Donato for winning this years SRX7 championship.. well deserved!
Great to see the girls out racing.. I believe everyone of them had a great time, so I think this is the start of a new tradition with the SRX7's... stayed tuned for next years 2nd annual challenge!
I'll second the great weather and great weekend of racing. First race, started out next to Bill M and into the first corner see him go wide right and start to come back. Next I see the bright orange of Lance's car going off in the dirt. Next lap around saw all the carnage... Anyway, kept in it and got past Donato, had a slight issue breaking late and got a nudge from him, then was worried about whether he had hit my rear wheel or not. Things seemed to be working okay, but in the interim, he got back past me. I followed him around and had a chance to get my nose in for the last corner - if I didn't hesitate, I think I could have gotten alongside him before we entered it, but figured I needed to save the car for Becky's drive. It was a drag race to the end, but I just didn't have enough room to catch him. Overall, loads of fun and lots of lead changes.
Don't remember much of the second race, but finished 2nd behind Tony - must be getting old.... At least the car ran well and seems to be back on race pace.
Womens race was a hoot. Everyone got a kick out of Cathy running half the track in 1st gear and then spinning in the really tight corner. Must have just been handicaping the field since once she got it started again she ran circles around everyone. Michelle seemed to be the only one watching the crowd at the end of the race, giving us a Schumaker like fist pump. She had a couple of good spins, but I heard that it was the car, not her driving that did it... Becky had most improved, coming from a 2:36 down to a 2:19. If I could only get her to keep her foot on the floor!
Sunday was fun - I swear during qualifying that the corner station put out the yellow and swiss flag on the first lap, only the swiss on the second, followed by the yellow and swiss on the third. Matt and I passed a legends car on that second lap - no camera, so no appeal on dropping back with Matt for the race. At least it was a 40 minute race and Donato gave us a half lap headstart when he pitted. Bump drafting must be okay too - Tony gave me a push right under the starters stand. I almost hit Travis on his missed shift, started to take it easy, then saw him come roaring back up behind me. I only had to hold him off for a few corners to see the checkered flag. At least I got to lead the last quarter of a lap!
Can't wait for the next race! Is the Nov SCCA race not on our calendar?
